1997 Comprehensive Plan The 1997 Accomack County Comprehensive Plan was adopted by the Board of Supervisors on August 4th, 1997. The overall purpose of the Comprehensive Plan is to guide the future social, economic and physical development of Accomack County so as to ensure the provision of adequate, quality, community facilities and services and the maintenance of a healthy, safe, orderly, and harmonious environment.

2008 Comprehensive Plan Update
adopted on May, 14, 2008
The Accomack County Comprehensive Plan is divided into several chapters: Planning Process and Legislative Authority Overview of the plan revision process and the legislative authority that enables Accomack County to plan for the future development of the county. Inventory of Existing Conditions - The Natural Environment Inventory of Existing Conditions - Plants and Animals Inventory of Existing Conditions - The Developed Environment Issues and Concerns A discussion of issues and concerns facing Accomack County. Goals, Objectives, Policies and Recommended Actions A presentation of the county’s goals for the future and outlines objectives, policies, and recommended actions designed to achieve those goals. Future Land Use Plan The future land use plan which includes the future land use map and proposed land use categories to be considered in the development of future revisions to the county’s zoning and subdivision ordinances.
