2008 Comprehensive Plan Update The Board of Supervisors and Planning Commission held a Joint Public Hearing on the Draft Comprehensive Plan Update on Wednesday, May 14, 2008. After receiving and considering public comments, the Planning Commission recommended approval of the plan. After considering the Planning Commission’s recommendation, the Board of Supervisors voted to adopt the Comprehensive Plan as recommended. The overall purpose of the Comprehensive Plan is to guide the future social, economic and physical development of Accomack County so as to ensure the provision of adequate, quality, community facilities and services and the maintenance of a healthy, safe, orderly, and harmonious environment. The Comprehensive Plan contains information, policies, and programs for the county to implement in order to manage development and resources in a manner most beneficial to the citizenry. The updated Accomack County Comprehensive Plan, adopted May 14, 2008, is now available for downloading by individual chapters.
