Accomap User Information

Viewing Assessment Data Online:

Beginning the week of December 3, users of AccoMap, the Accomack County Online Mapping Service, will be able to view 2008 Assessment Values for most properties in the County.

Getting to the Site:

Users can access the site from the link above or from the main page of the County’s web site, http://www.co.accomack.va.us. To access the site, no subscription is required.  The user will need to read the disclaimer information, check the box acknowledging you have read the disclaimer, and press the "enter site" box.

Obtaining Information:

Once on the site, users have two methods of navigating to assessment data.  The first option is to conduct a search by the property owner’s name, the billing address, or parcel identification number (PIN).  Of these options, the property owner’s name is normally the easiest option.  After conducting the search, the current and new assessed values will appear on the search results screen.  Simply click on one of the records listed in the results and the user will be able to view more detailed information about the parcel and view a map of the area.

The other option is for a user to zoom into the area in question on the map, select the information tool on the right side of the screen and click on a parcel.  A window will appear and the user will select the option to open details to view additional information about the parcel.  The user can use the information tool on other parcels in the area for purposes of comparison or use the find nearby parcels option to select surrounding parcels.

Disclaimer:

If a property owner owns multiple adjoining parcels which appear on a single assessment notice, the search results will return identical values for each of the parcels.  This could lead some users to the conclusion the assessment is the total of the values listed for each parcel.  The actual total should be determined by selecting the record and reviewing the information on the summary screen which lists which parcels comprise the land for which the assessment information has been compiled.

Getting Additional Help on the Web Site:

Additional information on using the Accomap Online Mapping Service can be found by clicking the Help tab or by contacting the Accomack County Planning Department.  The Planning Department can be reached by telephone at 787-5726 or 824-5324 or via email to planning@co.accomack.va.us. Other questions concerning the reassessment should be directed to the information on the Reassessment Notice.
