The Department of Building, Planning, and Zoning provides Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) determinations on request.

Please come into the office, located in room 105 in the County Administration Building in Accomac, or call the office. See address and phone number in right column.

In order to make a determination, please have as much of the following information available as possible:

1. Name of property owner
2. Tax map number for property in question
3. 911 address for property in question.

Limited Flood Zone information is online via AccoMap - Accomack County's Online Mapping Service.  To access the free site, click the link below, read the disclaimer information, check the box acknowledging you have read the disclaimer, and press the "enter site" box.

1. Go to http://store.msc.fema.gov
   
   
2. Select "Map Search" from the top menu bar
   
   
3. Enter an address and click on "go"
   
   
4. A list of available maps will appear. Click on the green "view" button next to the map you want to see.
   
   
5. The relevant FIRM panel will be displayed. You can zoom in and pan around to see more detail.
   
   
6. You can also order paper and digital copies of the flood maps from the FEMA* site.
