Code Enforcment/Building Inspectpor

The County of Accomack is seeking applications for either a fulltime or part-time position of Code Enforcement/Building Inspector, in the Building, Planning & Economic Development department.
The position is responsible for enforcement of state, federal, & local laws and regulations, codes and ordinances related to residential and commercial structures, in a uniform and systematic manner. Applicants must be able to perform field work and may be assigned to do inspections in any location within the County.
A high school diploma or GED; the ability to read and interpret building plans and specifications; Experience with enforcing building and zoning codes and ordinances; Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. A valid driver’s license and satisfactory completion of a background check and drug screening prior to employment are required.
Possession of a valid Driver License and the satisfactory completion of a criminal history, drug screening and DMV records checks are required prior to employment.
