Accomack County has become aware of fraudulent emails being sent to applicants regarding permit applications and fees. These emails claim to be from County staff and request wire transfer payments before a case can progress.

Please know the following:

• Accomack County Community and Economic Development accepts in-person payments, mailed payments, or payments through the Energov portal only.
• We will never ask you to wire funds or send in gift cards as payment.
• Any legitimate email from the County will come from a co.accomack.va.us address.
• If you are unsure about correspondence claiming to come from Accomack County Community and Economic Development, please contact the member of the staff you worked with. If they are not available, contact the department.
