IFB # 742- Access Control – Emergency Operations Center

The County of Accomack is seeking sealed bids from qualified Virginia licensed contractors for  construction to be performed at the Eastern Shore Fire Training Center/ Emergency Operations Center, located at 28598 Beacon Road, Melfa Virginia 23410.   View the complete IFB here.  

This project includes security upgrades and infrastructure at the Accomack County Emergency Operations Center.  Work to be done under this Contract includes, but is not limited to the following:  

• Install an automated security gate across the driveway.
• Install chain-link fence panels to create a space between the road and new gate for vehicles to pull off the road and activate the gate.
• Install Infrastructure (Conduits, Risers, Pull Strings, and Junction Boxes) for cameras and controllers that will be provided and installed by others.
• Provide power source for gate operator and related switches as shown on the plans, from existing panel on site.
• Remove existing manual gate upon completion and satisfy testing and operation of automated gate.Manual gate shall remain operational throughout the proposed construction, allowing the site to be secured.
• Contractor shall be responsible to coordinate work and schedule with County staff and the County’s selected security systems contractor.

Construction shall be according to the construction drawings by Via Design.  (See Exhibit 1 – Drawings)  

A non-mandatory prebid meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 15, 2022 beginning promptly at 10:00 AM at the project site.  

The County will waive the tipping fees for all materials removed from this project and delivered to the North Landfill (9400 Cutler Lane, Atlantic, VA 23303) by the contractor.   The contractor is responsible to obtain any necessary County permits, but the fees will be waived.  

Bids shall be accompanied by a bid bond in an amount equal to 5% of the bid amount.  

*Work shall be completed 60 days after issue of Notice to Proceed.  There is no payment/ performance bond requirement for this project, however the awarded contractor will be required to sign a contract with the County of Accomack.

 Sealed bids may be delivered to the Accomack County Administration Building at 23296 Courthouse Ave., Suite 203, Accomac, VA 23301 or may be mailed to the Accomack County Finance Office, c/o Lucy Huffman, P.O. Box 620 Accomac, VA 23301 until Thursday June 30, 2022  at 4:00 PM.  All bids received by the due date and time will be publicly opened and read aloud at 4:15 PM on same day via “Zoom” meeting.  Bids received after the due date and time will be returned unopened.
