STOP LOSS SERVICES
THE COUNTY OF ACCOMACK VIRGINIA
General Statement
The County is looking to contract with a vendor that can provide Stop Loss services for employees of Accomack County. The County is currently self-funded for insurance for its employees. This document is intended to serve as a Request for Proposal (RFP) for stop loss services.
Delivery Methodology
The County is open to proposals for in-person and/or virtual (online) delivery of stop loss services from firms providing the requested services. The County invites recommendations from offerors as to what would be an appropriate split, if any, between in-person and online delivery.
Functional Scope
It is the intent of Accomack County to establish a contract for Stop Loss Services for the County of Accomack. This contract may be renewed upon the mutual desire by the awarded offeror and Accomack County. To obtain Stop Loss questionnaire, claims and census data, potential offerors may contact David Costa at david_costa@ajg.com.
Important items surrounding the RFP:
- Required services shall include, but not be limited to:
- Provide services as outlined in this RFP.
- Offeror, in submitting a proposal, certifies that they have not been suspended or disbarred from participating in competitive procurement in Virginia.
- Offeror is to answer all of the questions in the questionnaire in order to be evaluated. Any questions left unanswered will lead to points being deducted.
- The contract term will be effective from June 1, 2025 through May 31, 2026, with options to renew upon mutual agreement.
- This contract will provide stop loss insurance (also referred to as excess risk insurance) to pay eligible medical and pharmacy claims which exceed $100,000 for individuals and 125% for aggregate coverage. This means any individual combined medical and pharmacy claim in excess of the above-named claims is reimbursed by the stop loss insurance company to the County’s self-insurance medical plan.
