I. Background
The Central Accomack Water & Sewer System is defined as the wastewater collection system and water system serving the Airport and Industrial Park in Melfa, VA as well as other connections between the Park and Onancock, VA. The system currently has thirty-nine (38) connections for wastewater and nine (10) connections for water. The wastewater collection system consists of two (2) sewage lift stations that are now owned and operated by the Hampton Roads Sanitation District (HRSD); one of these stations is a transfer station which pumps sewage to the primary lift station. The primary lift station at the Park conveys raw sewage via a 6” force main to a 12” gravity main near the Town of Onancock. The sewage is ultimately conveyed to the HRSD Wastewater Treatment Plant located in the Town of Onancock.
The North Spur Sewer Line is defined as the wastewater collection system serving future commercial customers that connects into the Central Accomack System. The wastewater collection system consists of one lift station behind the Chesapeake Square shopping center that conveys raw sewage via a 6” force main to a 12” gravity main near the Town of Onancock. The sewage is ultimately conveyed to the HRSD Wastewater Treatment Plant located in Onancock.
The Wallops Research Park Water & Sewer System is defined as the wastewater and water connections currently serving two (2) customers located near Wattsville, VA.
The County Buildings Complex Water & Sewer System is defined as the chlorinated drinking water and onsite wastewater connections serving the public buildings in and near the Town of Accomac. There are currently fourteen (14) connection on this system.
Old Accomac Library located at 23610 Front Street Accomac, VA 23301. NOTE: This building is currently unoccupied and not being used. Testing and reporting services have been suspended at this location until the building is occupied.
The Sawmill Park Water & Sewer System consists of the onsite water and sewer infrastructure serving Sawmill Park, the Parks & Recreation / Public Works Office, the Voter Registration Office, and accessory buildings; all in the vicinity of 24401 Joynes Neck Road, Accomac, Virginia.
Virginia Department of Health and Department Social Service Buildings. Both buildings are located in the Town of Accomac. Both have water and wastewater systems.
