Summary/ Background: As of January 2025, the County’s Storm Drainage Program implemented a policy of using contractors “exclusively” for cleaning and maintaining the stormwater drainage ditches. These ditches are located throughout the 400sq miles of Accomack County. Keeping them open and functional plays an important role in road safety and protects property from flooding. Red Hill Rd & Keller Pond Rd. drains excess water from State Route 621, and the Town of Painter.
