On Tuesday November 6, 2018 there will be a General Election to elect a U.S. Senator a U.S. Representative & fill the unexpired term of the Commissioner of Revenue for Accomack County. There will also be two constitutional question on the ballot this fall as well as four towns will elect their Mayor & council. The four towns are Bloxom, Melfa, Onley & Painter. The state will be sending information at a later date explaining the constitutional questions.
You will vote in your normal polling place on the 6th and the polls are open on election day from 6:00am –7:00pm.
The last day to Register to vote for anyone who is not currently registered or to make changes to a current registration prior to the General Election is October 15, 2018 by 5:00p.m.
If for any reason you will not be able to go to the polls on Election Day you may vote an Absentee Ballot. You can apply for an absentee ballot by mail, visit the Department of Elections website at elections.virginia.gov or by coming to the Office of the General Registrar in Accomac at 23312 Courthouse Ave. Call 757-787-2935 or 757-824-0525. You may apply for an Absentee Ballot for an election any time during the year in which the election will be held. Absentee voting for the November 6th Election will begin by mid September.
- The last day to request an Absentee Ballot by mail for the November 6, 2018 election is October 30, 2018 by 5:00p.m.
- The last day to vote an Absentee Ballot in person for the November 6, 2018 election is Saturday, November 3, 2018 by 5:00pm. The office will be open our normal business hours on this date.
