United Way of Virginia's Eastern Shore

2017 Campaign

United, we "SHORE" can make a difference!

We are kicking off the 2017 United Way Campaign!  By giving to our local United Way of Virginia’s Eastern Shore, you can make a difference right here at home.

One benefit of supporting your favorite charity through the United Way is that it is an employer-sponsored campaign.  An employer-sponsored campaign allows employees to give to a charity of their choice via automatic payroll deduction.  This gives employees the opportunity to support their community over the course of a year instead of a one-time donation.  It is much easier, for me, to have $10.00 deducted from each payroll versus writing a one-time check for $240.00.

I know what you are thinking…you are on a budget and money is tight.  If you are honest with yourself, you could probably come up with one thing that you could do without:  a vending machine snack, your favorite fancy coffee, or lottery tickets.  I equate my $10 per pay to a fast food meal that I definitely do not need.

In preparing for this letter, I realized that last year marked Accomack County’s 20th campaign.  County employees have given almost $64,000.  That is truly amazing!   Think of all the lives that this money has touched: Little League, Boys & Girls Club, Food Bank, fire companies, Eastern Shore Area Agency on Aging, SPCA, Public Library, Hospice of the Eastern Shore, and many more.

Thank you again for making this possible!

UPDATE

Thank you, thank you and thank you!  We exceeded our goal this year.  Our campaign closed at $12,579!
