Concealed Handgun Permits

  • Any person 21 years of age or older residing in Accomack County, or if a member of the United States Armed Forces domiciled in Accomack County, may apply for a 5-year permit to carry a concealed handgun.

Please verify the application before submitting it, the application must match the government issued ID information. Any errors or information that does not match the documents submitted will be rejected.  

**If you do not reside in Accomack County please contact the Circuit Court Clerk's Office in the locality where you reside.

First-time applicants and any new residents of Accomack County, please complete the "New Application." For any applicant who has applied in Accomack County previously, please complete the "Renewal Application" even if the permit has expired.

 

For Applications Filed in the Accomack County Circuit Court

  • The filing fee is $40.
  • Proof of training pursuant to VA Code 18.2-308.02(B) is required.
  • If the permit is granted, the Clerk’s Office will mail your permit to you.

Replacement of a Lost or Damaged Permit or Replacement Permit for Name Change

If you need to replace your permit because the original has been lost, destroyed, or damaged, or you may have had a name change since permit was issued, you must fill out replacement permit form.

The form is also available at the Circuit Court Clerk’s Office:

  • Personally appear at the Circuit Court Clerk’s Office.
  • You must present a picture I.D. (i.e. driver’s license or government-issued ID).
  • For name change, you must present legal name change documents.
  • Pay a fee of $30 for replacement.

Submit a form with a $30 check or money order payable to Circuit Court Clerk. The Court will issue the replacement Permit within 10 business days of receiving the notarized statement and fee.

Replacement Permit For a Change of Address

The Court that issued the permit may issue a replacement permit specifying the permit holder’s new address upon presentation by the permit holder of the valid permit and written notice of a change of address on a form provided by the Virginia State Police Department. The permit holder must surrender the current permit before a replacement permit is issued. The fee is $35 made payable to the Accomack County Circuit Court Clerk.
