March 30, 2020

 According to Sheriff Todd Wessells on March 28, 2020 at approximately 12:14 a.m., the Accomack County Sheriff’s Office received reports of a subject being shot on Tull Circle in Atlantic, Virginia. Upon deputies arrival they discovered a male subject lying in the living room floor suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has been identified as Cervone Copes, 42, from Atlantic, Virginia. The body was transported to Norfolk Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. This incident is being investigated as a homicide.

The Accomack County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Virginia State Police and the Parksley Police Department.

March 30, 2020

According to Sheriff Todd Wessells at approximately 9:51 p.m. on March 26, 2020 the Accomack County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Corner Mart in Oak Hall, Virginia for a report of a robbery.  Upon deputies arrival on the scene it was determined that one male subject entered the store and robbed the clerk of an undisclosed amount of money at gunpoint. The suspect fled the scene driving a small dark colored SUV traveling south on Lankford Hwy.

On March 30, 2020, the Accomack County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at Hillcrest Dr. in New Church, Virginia in reference to the robbery that occurred on March 26, 2020.

Jarell Edward Corbin, 31, of New Church, Virginia was arrested and charged with 3 counts of robbery, 3 counts of use of a firearm during the commission of a robbery and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The three robbery charges were in connection with robberies occurring at the Dollar General Store in Oak Hall, Virginia on February 7, 2020, the Accomac Shore Stop in Accomac, Virginia on March 23, 2020 and the Corner Mart in Oak Hall, Virginia on March 26, 2020.

Jarell Corbin is being held at the Accomack County jail with bond denied.  

The Accomack County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Virginia State Police.

March 26, 2020

According to Sheriff Todd Wessells on March 25, 2020 at approximately 12:28 a.m., the Accomack County Sheriff’s Office received a report of two subjects missing from a residence on Coal Kiln Road in Painter, Virginia.  A report was received that a white BMW driven by the missing subjects was located on Doughty Farm Road in Painter, Virginia.  Upon deputies arrival they discovered the bodies of two subjects deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.  They have been transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Norfolk, Virginia for an autopsy.

The male subject has been identified as 37year old Princeton Howard Bragg from Painter, Virginia. The female subject’s identity is pending results from the Medical Examiner’s Office.

This incident is being investigated as a homicide.

The Accomack County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Virginia State Police, Northampton County Sheriff’s Office, and the Eastern Shore Drug Task Force.

March 26, 2020

According to Sheriff Todd Wessells on March 25, 2020 at approximately 2:26 p.m., the Accomack County Sheriff’s Office received reports of a subject who had been shot on Tyler Lane in Accomac, Virginia.  Upon deputies arrival they discovered a male subject suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital by Parksley Fire and Rescue Company where he is listed in stable condition.  The subject has been identified as Donald Veney, 46, of Accomac, Virginia.

An investigation into the incident has led to arrest warrants being obtained against Robert James Northan Jr. of Parksley, Virginia for attempted murder, use of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The Accomack County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Virginia State Police and Parksley Police Department.
