September 14, 2016

According to Sheriff Todd Godwin, an arrest has been made in the death of 39 y/o Fardale Antonio Johnson of Mappsville who died as a result of a gunshot wound on June 24th.  An investigation was initiated following a report of gunshots being fired between the occupants of two vehicles travelling on Lankford Highway near Mappsville.  Johnson was subsequently located on Nathanial Street in Mappsville where he was pronounced dead.    

24 y/o Tyqon Demetrius Robins of Nelsonia was arrested in Accomack County on September 11, 2016 and has been charged with FIRST DEGREE MURDER, USE OF A FIREARM IN THE COMMISSION OF A FELONY AND DISCHARGING A FIREARM FROM A MOTOR VEHICLE.

Robins is incarcerated in the Accomack County Jail with bond denied.

Assisting the Accomack County Sheriff’s Office in the arrest were troopers from the Virginia State Police and officers from the Parksley and Bloxom Police Departments.

August 18, 2016

According to Sheriff Todd Godwin, a 17 y/o male has been arrested in connection with the August 12th death of Nathanial Adam Ayres.  Ayres died as a result of gunshot wounds following an incident that occurred on August 12th near the intersection of Nocks Landing Road and Greta Road near Atlantic.    

The 17 y/o was arrested on August 17th at his home in Atlantic and has been charged with First Degree Murder, Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Murder, Robbery and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Robbery, and is currently being held in the Norfolk Juvenile Detention Center.

According to Sheriff Todd Godwin, on August 12, 2016 at approximately 12:42AM, the Accomack County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a subject shot near the intersection of Nocks Landing Road and Greta Road near Atlantic.  Upon deputies, troopers and rescue personnel arriving on the scene, a male subject was located and found to be deceased with apparent gunshot wounds.

The victim has been identified as 19 y/o Nathanial Adam Ayres of Nelsonia.

July 18, 2016

According to Sheriff Todd Godwin, on July 16th at approximately 8:40 AM, the Accomack County Sheriff’s Office and the Virginia State Police responded to the end of Pierce Taylor Road near Mappsville for a report of two individuals who were believed to be deceased, and an infant child inside of a vehicle. Upon deputies, troopers and EMS personnel arriving on the scene, two adults were confirmed to be deceased from apparent gunshot wounds and the child was evaluated and was determined to be in good health. 

The deceased individuals have been identified as 20 y/o Elizabeth Madison Ann Jensen of Sanford and 27 y/o Jonan Fabricio Gonzales-Funes of Bloxom, and the infant was determined to be the child of the deceased individuals.  Custody of the child has since been turned over to other family members.  Gonzales-Funes was employed as a correctional officer with the Accomack County Sheriff’s Office since September 2015.

At this time, it appears that this incident was the result of a murder-suicide, and that Gonzales-Funes is the suspect, however the investigation is ongoing and laboratory and autopsy results are pending.

According to Sheriff Todd Godwin, on Friday, June 24th, at approximately 09:49PM, the Accomack County Sheriff’s Office received a report of gunshots being fired between the occupants of two vehicles travelling on Lankford Highway near Mappsville.  At approximately 09:50PM, a second caller reported that a gunshot victim was located on Nathaniel Street near Mappsville. 

Upon deputies, troopers and rescue personnel arriving at the Nathaniel Street location, one gunshot victim was located who was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.  The victim has been identified as 39 y/o Fardale Antonio Johnson of Mappsville.

Based on the investigation into this incident, arrest warrants have been issued against 24 y/o Tyqon Demetrius Robins of Nelsonia for FIRST DEGREE MURDER, USE OF A FIREARM IN THE COMMISSION OF A FELONY AND DISCHARGING A FIREARM FROM A MOTOR VEHICLE.

June 16, 2016

According to Sheriff Todd Godwin, on June 15, 2016, the Accomack County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a body located in a field off of Davis Wharf Road near Craddockville.  Upon deputies and rescue personnel arriving on scene, a male subject was located and found to be deceased. 

The victim has been identified as 41 year old Eric Clifford Rhatigan of Eastville.

This death is currently being investigated as a homicide and a cause of death is pending the results of an autopsy.
